Did you know?

The first "computer" did not become commercially available until 1943. Charles Babbage had designed a programmable device more than 100 years before but was unable to raise the necessary capital to build it.

In 1985 the Science Museum, London built the Difference Engine 2 based on one of his earlier designs to celebrate the bicentennial of Babbage’s birth. Babbage had designed the Difference Engine 2 between 1847 and 1849.
