My
Computers: The Past
Here
are some brief details of the computers I have owned since my childhood:
ZX
Spectrum
My brothers! He let me play on it sometimes.
Sinclair
ZX81
Bought for £1.50 at a boot fair with the 16mb expansion pack and
two games. It was pretty pony but looked really cool.

Sinclair ZX81 with
expansion pack.
I still
have it somewhere. I hope it might be worth a bit of money one day as
an antique!
Commodore
64
Originally my brothers, sold to me to feed his teenage fag habit. An absolute
classic of home computing in the 80s. Commando and Uridium
were amongst my favourite games.
Commodore
286 laptop
Bought from a school friend for £80. It was actually not a bad
PC at the time.
It had an LCD screen and ran Windows 3.1 with MS Works. This got me through
my A-levels and I also used it at University to write essays at home.
I got some funny looks on the train when using this. Especially as the
battery life was about twenty minutes so I had to work pretty quickly!
Elonex
Intel 386 PC
Given to me while at University by a friend as I didn't have a computer
at the time. It ran Windows 3.1. It was considered proper old-skool but
it worked. I stripped it for parts when I finished the course although
I can't remember if their was anything worth keeping. I still have the
keyboard and mouse which sometimes get some use.
Apple
Macintosh 4400/180 Power PC
Bought from a friend for £100. It had all the graphics software
on it but was
dog slow. The iMac really killed it off as nobody wanted a beige mac anymore.
I still have it in the corner of my room as I never got round to selling
it. Any offers? Does the job and has an Iomega external SCSI ZIP drive.
Intel
Pentium 266mhz
This had a 4GB hard drive running Windows 98. I got this for free when
my brother upgraded someone's PC. I have still got it as I had planned
to use it as a second machine for something although never decided what.
I'm sure it will come to me?!
