Critical Mass

Some American dude misses the point of Critical Mass and tries to let the
bike ride him

Basically, this is when a lot of cyclists happen to be in the same place at the same time and cycle around together in town. Often a place is agreed on one of several web sites. Critical Mass rides take place all over the world. The idea is to reclaim the urban environment which is increasingly dominated by the high polluting cars by outnumbering them on the road.

My main reason for cycling in London is that its faster and cheaper than cars or public transport. But I must say it would be nice if everyone could enjoy cycling without fear of being munsoned - either by other road users or pollution.

I have been to Copenhagen and I was really impressed with the way the city is designed to encourage cycling with excellent lanes and free community bikes supplied by the city. Everyone I saw in Denmark (even if they were overweight) looked fit and healthy.

I have never been to critical mass mainly due to the fact it often happens during the day when I'm at work. I would like to go as much for the craic as
for making a point.
