Jimi Tenor
Finnish genre bending, lounge lizard Jimi Tenor has got to be one of the coolest cats in any town. Not only does he look like Joe 90 but he has also been seen stroking a piece of meat during one of his stage shows while dressed as something described as a fish! His funky and often comedic style of jazz will leave you nodding your head while also smiling and reaching for the volume control (to turn it up of course). Unfortunately his marriage to Warp Records ended acrimoniously in 2000 but he found a new home at Berlin's Kitty-Yo label. His wife Nicole Willis is also a talented artist and Jimi co-produced her debut album. I had the pleasure
of seeing Mr. Tenor perform with a sixty piece orchestra during his Out
of Nowhere tour at the Barbican,
London in 2000. It was probably one of the most impressive gigs I have
ever been too and the sound quality was lush. Check this guy out! |
