Kraftwerk

The Robots taking the places of Ralf Hutter, Karl Bartos, Wolfgang Flur and Florian Schneider.

Well what can I say about these guys? As you may have guessed from the design of this site (each section is inspired by a Kraftwerk album cover if you hadn't realised) I'm quite a fan and have been since I was about eleven. It was Kraftwerk that encouraged me to ditch my indie leanings and pursue the black arts of the electronic. Their 1981 album Computerworld is the best electronic album ever made in my opinion.

Not only was their music excellent but they were technical innovators often building their own instruments if there was no alternative on the commercial market.

I also appreciated the way they decided to control every aspect of their product including producing their own music, in their own studio and even deciding on band image and cover artwork themselves.

I had the pleasure of fulfilling a lifelong ambition and watching them play live at Brixton Academy on 20th March 2004 which was quite something I can tell you.

Do I need to go on? I could quite easily but I won't. All you need to know is they rule!!
