Men often balance against cars and stand on one leg in New York City.

Christmas was nearly upon us once again so I decided it was about time
that I finally went to New York and saw what all the fuss was about. Flights
had never been cheaper and reports in the money markets suggested that the US dollar was getting slapped all out of shape by the power of the mighty sterling.

Solo expeditions are reserved for ageing aristocratic types who employ locals
to carry their bags and direct them to the best hunting spots. This has never been my style (I would look ridiculous with a moustache anyway) so Thomas, an acquaintance from rural Lincolnshire, came along with me. I thought it might be interesting to contrast his views of vast sprawling cities of London and New York with the simple country life he is used to.
