Sabae
- Imadachi-cho Papyrus Center
This village is famed throughout
Japan for its
paper making history. If you ever make it as far
as the Fukui Prefecture and your a paper enthusiast,
you should check it out. It beats the Carriage
Museum in Maidstone hands down.

This model show some
of the old-skool echizen paper making
techniques.

Some examples of some
traditional echizen paper. The
paper making knowledge has been handed down through the
generations.

After looking round
the museum we decided to have a go at
making some paper ourselves.

'Big Al' as he called
himself, had done this before
and was determined to show us how its done.

Japanese paper wouldn't
be complete without
some mustard to finish things off.

No, no, no your'e doing
it wrong! Big Al was
attempting to make me mess up my paper at
every available opportunity. I'm still not sure if
I did it right.
