I’m running the London Marathon 2009

I’ve always wanted to have a go at running the London Marathon but it’s so hard to get a place so I was delighted to get a spot running for the NSPCC on the 26th April 2009.

Although I have done a few triathlons and duathlons as well as a couple of cycle sportives I’ve hardly set the world alight so I’m expecting the training to be a particularly hard slog.

I was looking for a roll model and in the end plumped for Forrest Gump. He goes home one day and finds his mother about to snuff it – the bit where she tells him that “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get” and so on. In his grief he decides to run across America several thousand times thinking about Bubba, Lt. Dan and “my Jennnie”. You can watch all this unfold below.

If you could consider sponsoring me for this I would be very grateful.

I write about the web and digital, mediocre sporting performances and places I've been, for this blog and only this blog.
