I was very disappointed to hear last month that one of my favourite ever radio shows Max Tundra’s Rotogravure will no longer continue its regular Saturday slot on Resonance FM. I loved this show not just because Max Tundra is one of my favourite musicians but because the content of the show was so totally eclectic – the evidence of this can be seen from the show playlist blog. In the time the show ran between July 2007 and September 2010 it introduced me to a whole load of music that I would otherwise have not heard of.
The other sad part of this is how the show finished. Max Tundra (aka Ben Jacobs) seems to have been treated pretty poorly by the station Content Manager, Richard Thomas who has previous for this kind of thing and has been described as the Simon Cowell of radio.
Between now and the end of 2010 Max Tundra will be posting up a random show on his Sound Cloud page and we can only hope that the show may find a home on another station – although the radio landscape seems so bland these days that it could be a long shot!
